Random Photos

Hey guys, we don’t really have much news to tell you but have decent internet connection right now so are hoping to update the blog with some random photos that we have been wanting to put online but couldn’t. We hope you enjoy!

The following 4 photos are some photos taken on our trip to Barada that we previously posted about. The first one is a photo of our friend Tim and please note that he is wearing the beautiful 49er hat! The other three are just some beautiful landscape photos that we took.

Here are some photos of the night that we had Espanhol’s family over for some dinner. His sisters really enjoyed the garlic bread and the sugar cookies that Jordan made. But who doesn’t right???

These next photos are some long overdue photos of our christmas extravaganza in Gorongosa! Jordan made all those stockings for all the central volunteers and that is the little tree that I insisted upon having and it fit perfectly in our little casa.

This picture is of our friend Dov who lives in Sussendenga and came to visit us last weekend. Unfortunately for him we were without energy for the whole weekend so we weren’t able to do all the baking that we were prepared to do while he was here. To make matters worse, we had no electricity to cook with so we had to buy a little charcoal stove and frantically learn how to light the charcoal to cook here. It’s extremely painful here because in order to get the charcoal lit, you have to burn a plastic bag and hope the burning pieces light the charcoal. As healthy as that sounds right?? Nothing like a little burned plastic to go along with the food! It can take forever and the whole time you just wish you had some lighter fluid that you could spray on there and make it a ton easier.

And here is one of us when we walked down to the river when Dov was in town.

Here is a really random photo of a bird that we took but is a great representation of some of the cool wildlife we get to see routinely around here. There is a really cool bird with a super long tail that we have been trying to get photos of for awhile but it has been really elusive.

Here is a picture of one of my classes that I took at the begining of the year when I was trying to learn their names. They get real excited to have their photos taken.

And finally, what I am sure will be everyone’s favorite photos. Baby Thika. We have communicated periodically with the volunteers that were here before us and I asked them if they could send any photos of Thika when he was a puppy and so here you go..

I wanted to try and add this video of Thika showing just how lazy he is. He can’t even get himself to stand up to eat a cookie. It is really pathetic and I am a little embarrassed for him here!
